Everyone says we are crazy and we probably are but we are going through with it anyway.  As the title says, Something Sexy is opening its first store in Santa Rosa, California.  It will be at 109 4Th Street in the Historic Railroad Square. We will be officially open for business October 15, 2008.  Something Sexy will be sharing space with “Fabulous Finds”  look for us in the loft.  You will see that much of what is currently on the web site will be on sale online as well as in the Store.  Something Sexy was created because its founder Donna Minkel could not find a bra in Sonoma County that fit her.  She believed that she was not the only one with this problem and declared that the women of Sonoma County and every other county would have beautiful bras wear.  Her dedication is just moving one step closer to helping women achieve their true beauty

In the world wide lingerie industry magazine The best of Intima, Something Sexy was nominated for best concept store.  This is HUGE, for a site that just launched in March 08.  Something Sexy is committed to providing the best lingerie at the best prices.  Something Sexy is not only offering beautiful lingerie they are giving back to society as well.  Something Sexy this year will donate 10% of their income to the Santa Rosa Sexual Assault program.  Something Sexy believes that every woman needs to wear fine lingerie and wants to support non-profits that make the world a better place.

Let’s talk about the best way to fit you into a bra.  One of my pet peeves is that so called experts in bra fitting go around telling women to add inches to their band size.  I am beginning to think this is a conspiracy created by bra manufactures, so that they do not have to make a variety of sizes.  I am just speaking my thoughts, I don’t know this for a fact.  What I do know is that you DO NOT add inches to your band measurement.  You DO NOT add 3, 4 or 5 inches to your measurement.  If your band measurement is a 32 you wear a 32, not some magical number someone said to add.  The only exception to this rule is, if your measurement is an odd number like 37 you wear a 38.  All bras are created with even sizing.  The best bra manufactures make bras in a large variety of sizes.  The bra support is suppose to come from the band of the bra not from the straps.  If your bra band is 5 inches larger than your band measurement, the support must then come from the straps.  This may not be a big deal if you are an A or B cup but it becomes a very big deal for those with large breasts. The lack of sexually transmitted disease education continues to put young people at risk for serious health issues.  People aged 18-24 may account for half of all newly diagnose STD’s.  Young people change partners more often and are less likely to practice safe sex.  Everyone should use a condom with a new partner, regardless of age, until both partners have been screened.  We need to talk more openly with our young people about safe sex.  Parents won’t you please remind your daughters and sons how much you care about them and suggest they get regular checkups

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is poised to put new barriers to accessing common forms of contraception, ie; birth control pills, emergency contraception and IUD’s by labeling them “abortion”.  These regulations are to be released next week and healthcare providers will be allowed to refuse contraception to women.  Who does this hurt the most? Federally-funded family planning services, low-income women, those who are insured, basically everyone who is not paying cash.   There are also barriers to counseling, education, and preventive health services.  This law will not allow health providers to offer emergency contraception in hospitals for sexual assault and rape victims. Please contact your Senator and tell them this assault on women’s health must stop.
